America's Strongest Hospital Brands · Clustered, Not Spread

Thirty-two American hospital brands make Brand Finance's Global Top 250 for 2026, led by Johns Hopkins (Brand Strength Index 83.3), Stanford (81.5) and Mass General Brigham (80.8). They are not spread across the country. Eighteen states have at least one; thirty-two have none. Roughly 72% sit in three places — the Northeast corridor (9), California (7) and the Great Lakes and Midwest (7), 23 of the 32 between them. Texas has three: MD Anderson (76.8), the University of Texas System (66.5) and Houston Methodist (61.0).

Why this matters for B2B

A ranked hospital brand is rarely just a hospital. It usually sits inside a cluster of research institutes, medical schools, clinics and the construction that follows them — and that cluster buys. Houston is the clearest case: the Texas Medical Center anchors a steady flow of institutional demand for fit-out and facilities goods — furniture, storage, packaging and consumables, cleaning and building materials — plus the housing and services that grow around a large employer. For a Houston wholesaler this map is a reminder that a city's medical weight is an economic base, not a health statistic.
